Making Motion Inclusive

As it did for all event organizers, COVID-19 threw a wrench into the works of our 2020 planning, but we’re back, and thanks to Adobe XD, we are very pleased to present our first online event, featuring one of our own members, Val Head. We’ll be hosting her talk on Zoom, and attendance is limited, so please register now. One lucky attendee will receive a year of Adobe Creative Cloud! Details on how to join the call will be provided 24 hours prior to the event.

About the Talk

It’s a common misconception that things like inclusive design and accessibility only come at the cost of design details like motion, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Whether it’s microinteractions, animated illustrations, or larger animated experiences, a little care and consideration can go a long way towards getting the best of both worlds.

In this session, Val will show you how to build animated interactions with inclusivity in mind from the start. We’ll discuss how to apply web accessibility guidelines to modern web animation, when and how to implement reduced motion, and approaches to building up animated interactions for a solid standards base.
